I'm getting ready to lead a meditation circle tonight and I am struggling to find the right words to convey what I am feeling.

On one hand, I want to encourage everyone to fully feel their feelings...and there are SO MANY post-election feelings in the air that it feels like a volcano may erupt at any moment.

On the other hand, I want us to start healing, and reconnecting with those on the "other team" whichever team that may be.

Afterall, don't we all want the same things?

Don't we all want peace and love and a good life?

I know it doesn't feel that way when some idiots (yes I did say that) are using hatred and bullying as if it were suddenly OK. And seeing this gets me fearful and angry and all I want to do is blame someone for this and shout at the top of my lungs!!!

But the people that I know, on the other team, are not doing that.

They, like me, and like you just want to be heard and respected.

We all wanted a change. We all wanted improvements. We just had different thoughts on how to get there.

So I am choosing to open the doors to compassion.

And to use this crazy election experience as a reminder to listen more to everyone...

to have a voice in things I care about...

and to be grateful that we live in a country that we are free to speak our minds.

What more can we do? I would love to hear your thoughts on how to heal in the comments below.
