I COMPLETELY redefined my relationship to and with food by working with Lisa!

Lisa met me where I was and focused on helping me make my LIFE better so eating was for hunger as opposed to eating my feelings. I told her that I really like to dance and in my mind I’m a “choreographer” who makes up dance routines to popular music videos. She didn’t laugh. Instead, she encouraged me to find local dance classes and “leave it on the dance floor”. I’m way more active than I’ve ever been and I am actually having FUN. Lisa also realized very early on that my spirituality is very important to me and she made sure to build in guided meditations and spiritual practices around food and exercise.

Lisa showed me that the power to change was inside me all along.  And for that,  I will always be grateful.

Now that fall is turning to winter, I break out my favorite red patent leather shoes. They are a statement. An affirmation that I am fun and creative, that I have a sense of adventure and a love of the unexpected. But for the past few decades I have bemoaned the fact that though I am happy on the outside - a chubby gal with a good sense of humor. On the inside I longed for the thinner, fitter self of my twenties and thirties. A woman who was in control of herself instead of one who throws up her hands and chalks up an expanding waistline to age and hormones, a woman who did not have borderline high blood pressure and achy feet and knees. And then, I ran into Lisa Lewtan.

Lisa offered me an opportunity sit down and discuss her healthy living philosophy. After the first meeting, I knew that I wanted more of whatever was in the herbal iced tea we were drinking…a calm, gentle approach, not just for weight loss, and exercise, but for living. I was skeptical. I had tried Weight Watchers several times after a 25-pound weight loss five years before, and though I was an avid Spinner, and thought I was eating pretty well by shopping only at Whole Foods and making all of my family’s food from scratch, the scale never budged.

Lisa took me on a different path. One that was more about me than about the food. A path that broke down the ‘whys’ of what I was eating, instead of a diet plan. A path that allowed me to explore what I really wanted for me, and helped me realize that I could actually get it. It was a process, but an amazing one. I am now 13 pounds into the initial 20-pound goal I had set for myself. I exercise 5 days a week, not because I should, but because I want to. My blood pressure is as low as it was in my twenties, and I can bound down a flight of stairs with out resting on the railing because of sore knees. Lisa has given me the confidence to realize that I matter as much as those I care for, that I can have the things I want for myself because I deserve them. Lisa has proved to me that I can indeed be Happy, Healthy, and yes – Hip. She showed me that just like Dorothy in her Ruby slippers, the power to change was inside me all along.

I just wanted to let you know that so far, a whole week, I have eaten three meals a day...breakfast everyday!!! all under your advice. I am eating tons of vegetables. I grill them and keep them in fridge like you suggested...I eat huge salads....but have not named them yet!!!!! Switched to whole grain....For salad dressing, I use balsamic vinegar, mustard and lemon. The best part is I’m full, have not cheated and am changing my eating habits.....only weighing myself once a week so i don’t make myself crazy! I’d read Lisa’s article, “One girl’s cupcake is another girl’s crack cocaine” and I felt a need to contact her. Lisa is amazing! I have totally changed my eating habits to a much healthier diet. I always thought I ate well but as we tracked the intake of what I was actually eating there was more of the processed food than I thought there was. The change was gradual and not as much as a struggle as I had thought it would be because Lisa has a way of moving you at your pace and now it is second nature and a new habit has developed. Stress and stress eating was part of my life and now I have healthy choices when I have to eat on the go. I have a better understanding of what not to eat and when. I never ate breakfast and now I always have something in the morning. She also helped me to calm down (even though my life is in the fast lane) and see that I can achieve a better control over my health and weight and have lost over 12 pound in 5 months time. Lisa was always responsive when we had questions or needed that extra motivation to get us through each day. 

Changing your diet and how you look at food is a difficult thing to do on your own, which is probably why I could never do it until Lisa’s 10-day Detox where we eliminated sugar (except for some fruit), gluten and dairy. I was so ready for the challenge and felt that this was the only way I could be successful; with Lisa as my guru and the other group members available as constant support. Each of us were able to post what we were eating which provided motivation and great meal prep ideas as well. It was fun to watch as recipes and photos were posted! Everyone was managing through support of the others and nobody was left feeling alone. Even though many of us were strangers from many different parts of the country, we were dependable in offering help when help was needed. I had been fighting food my entire life. I wasted years on fad diets like Weight Watchers, Atkins, the Flax Seed Diet, the Cabbage Diet, and even tried eating with chop stick to try to slow down my pace. These fad diets always worked well until a few months later when I gained all the weight that I lost and then some. I met Lisa two years ago and I have never felt better. Lisa taught me that in order to succeed, I need to stop fighting with food and embrace what is good for me both mentally and physically. What I learned from Lisa is more than I even expected.

I have been on Lisa's program twice now. What I learned is more than I even expected. I have learned to listen to my own voice in its internal power struggle for what I used to think was the quick fix, and depriving myself for an end gain.  The real end gain is about how I feel  when I wake up and have bounds of energy and didn’t realize this was possible before.
